‎Iran has previously issued threats against Trump. In 2022, a video released by the regime depicted a fictional assassination attempt at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago golf course in the lead-up to the 2024 election.

‎US authorities have also confirmed that an Iranian-led plot to assassinate Trump was disrupted in 2024. Court documents state that Farhad Shakeri was arrested after allegedly being instructed by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps to carry out the killing.

‎Participants at recent pro-government rallies in Iran were seen holding anti-Trump signs while chanting “Death to America!” and pledging loyalty to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

‎The regime-backed demonstrations are intended to counter widespread protests that began on December 28, fueled by Iran’s struggling economy.

‎Those protests have been met with a violent crackdown, leaving more than 2,500 people dead and thousands arrested, according to the Human Rights Activists News Agency based in the United States.

‎Relations between Tehran and Washington have further deteriorated as Trump warned that military intervention remains an option following the violent suppression of demonstrators.

‎Iranian officials have responded by threatening retaliatory attacks on US forces in the region and on Israel should the United States strike Iran.
